So far so good.

We shut the engine down at 8pm and started sailing wing-and-wing, with the mastfoils square to the wind and one jib out to each side of the boat. This works well for a narrow wind angle when we are sailing almost straight down wind. We are still in that configuration at midnight.

The winds have built and are now consistently 17-19 kn with gusts into the low 20’s. We are sailing fairly smoothly straight down wind over the waves. Boat speed changes quickly when a gust arrives, moving from 6-7 kn in the lulls up to 10kn in the gusts. The boat feels good and under control even when we surf in the gusts. If and when the wind goes higher, we’ll start to reef down.

All is well aboard Andiamo. I hope all is well with you.
